My Story

A Little About Me…

I was born and raised in Richmond, California, where my journey was shaped by resilience, family, and a strong sense of purpose. Growing up, my grandparents—who migrated to California from East Texas and Tallulah, Louisiana—played a major role in my upbringing and provided a strong foundation rooted in Christ and service. My family instilled in me the importance of leadership and giving back.

That legacy continues to inspire me, most recently highlighted through my uncle, who was honored in a documentary recognizing his life of service, including being named, at age 91, the nation’s oldest elected official and one of the longest-serving African American politicians in the United States.

Throughout my formative years, I participated in a variety of activities, including a city-wide orchestra (clarinet), oratory contests and church ministries where I acted in several church plays and served as the Assistant Choir Director for the young adult choir, The Voices of Praise. One of my fondest experiences was playing softball, which I began at the age of 10 and continued well into my 40s. In addition to being a meaningful outlet, it also strengthened my discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills.

These years were filled with opportunities to grow, create, and lead, and thus have shaped my path to my current role as a National Training Manager at AbbVie, where I design and lead training initiatives that support healthcare teams and improve patient access to life-changing treatments.

I am a creative at heart and express that creativity through crafting, resin art, and DIY projects around my home. I enjoy traveling, shopping, and all things film and television. On a personal note, I am also a proud sister to one older brother and three younger brothers—and a very blessed “Auntie” to 14 nieces and nephews, as well as a godmother to Jaden, Nadia and Ashari.
